"Making Tracks" Radio Show 44 January 25th 2017
Bad development that should have died continues but is still trying to fix its traffic problems. Also, opossums are here to stay so enjoy them!
McKinley Village is back in the news and recirculating another environmental document due to inadeuqately providing evidence to support that the project would not result in significant traffic impacts. Meanwhile, any effort to build a bicycle underpass from Alhambra Blvd was shelved and the opportunity to improve habitat at Sutter's Landing Park and American River Parkway was bypassed for cheaper and less effective mitigation offsite. Construction continues and a couple of houses are even owner occupied. When I checked recently, there were still more ponds and lots more geese present. The area is often surrounded by stationary trains and daily freeway traffic jams...
Ever wonder about opossums, where they came from, what they do to make a living, and why so many end up dead on the side of a road? Maybe we can address some of those questions. If nothing else, there is much music to put you in an opossum appreciation mood.
Music on the program:

"Five Pounds of Possum" by Troublesome Hollow Band
