It's been quite a while since we've seen such high flows in the American River but the rains returned bringing much needed water to recharge underground sources and the habitats wildlife rely on. We had to cancel our February mushroom event due to the water level, Parkway being closed for safety and no aquatic fungi likely to be found.
The levels were back down for our March event and a small group came out to enjoy the outdoors, share photography tips and watch the river flow by. A great time as always.!
Now that Spring has returned there are nearly daily reports of raptor and other wildlife sightings as well as returns to old nests or establishment of new ones nearby. Be sure to get out when you can and enjoy this great time of year!
